The new year brings a refreshing sense of endless possibilities as we dream about what 2023 will bring, what we will accomplish, and the people who will be by our side. Reflecting on where we’ve been is an important part of navigating where we’re headed, so we are looking back on an impactful year as we look ahead to ways we can grow and improve in 2023.

2022 began with preparations for our office move to Las Colinas, and the logistics carried us through most of the year as we transitioned from CBS Tower to Crestview Tower. While we are excitedly awaiting the final delivery of our office furniture and a few last decorative pieces, we are loving our new home and have loved hosting you here, too.

Benjamin Carr joined the Cadent team in August, and many of you have already had the pleasure of corresponding with him. Ben developed an early excitement for money after a neighbor presented him with money to invest as a high school graduation gift. Before joining Cadent, he built his financial planning practice from the ground up with another broker dealer and worked with clients across the country. Attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, he attained his BBA in Marketing while a member of the men’s golf team. He is currently enrolled in the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional program through the University of Texas-Austin. Outside of the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, and their two daughters, Lyla (2) and Remi (8 months). Please send him a welcome email or give him a call – he is excited to get to know all of you!

Erin Champlin had an accomplished year after joining the team in January. We are so proud of the way that she has served each of you and managed client service since joining. She has conquered all of her securities licensing exams with flying colors. She is settling into life in DFW after moving here from Illinois, but still welcomes any of your favorite Dallas recommendations.

Emma kept busy this year as well. She was selected for a two-year term on the national leadership team for the “Next Generation” of the Financial Planning Association as the coordinator for the national conference held in Las Vegas. She also co-founded the Texas A&M Financial Planning Advisory Board as a way to support students and foster community among Aggie Financial Planners. The girls that she mentored through Young Life graduated in May, and she is so grateful for the six years she spent in their lives.

Taylor and Casey continue to fearlessly lead the team, and we could not admire their leadership more. Casey passed his Series 9 and 10 exams, and now joins Taylor as co-branch manager. He was named to Raymond James Leader’s Council, and enjoyed a trip to Santa Barbara, CA, connecting with the top advisors in the country. Taylor was named to Forbes’ list of the best wealth advisors in the state. He also spearheaded every detail of the move to Las Colinas, which was no small feat.

Tom and Lynn welcomed their third grandbaby last Spring, and a precious new puppy at the end of the year. They are putting the finishing touches on their new home which recently wrapped up construction. They hosted the Cadent Christmas party, and we can attest to the thoughtful detail they put into every inch of the project. This should be no surprise with all the detail they put into building Cadent and serving each of you.

The year also brought some of our favorite team moments and accomplishments. Cadent was named as one of the Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams, and again named on D Magazine’s list of Top Wealth Managers, with several of us recognized individually as well. We dressed up for Halloween and enjoyed a marvelous team Thanksgiving lunch with Erin’s out of town family joining for the occasion. The meal was capped off with Ben’s home smoked pulled pork and Taylor’s homemade pumpkin pie.

As we look to this year ahead, we are filled with hope. We know that many of you celebrated lifelong achievements in 2022, while others faced difficult tragedy. Thank you for letting us be by your side throughout the highs and lows. It’s an honor, and we are committed to being there for you for the long-term.

If you haven’t already, please share what last year brought you, and what you are hoping 2023 will bring!

The 2022 Forbes America’s Best Employers By State ranking as of 8/24/2022 has named Raymond James as one of 1,382 winners out of the universe of U.S.- based employers with more than 500 employees. To determine the list Statista surveyed 70,000 U.S. employees from companies with more 500 employees. All respondents were asked to rate their organizations on criteria including safety of work environment, competitiveness of compensation, and opportunities for advancement and openness to telecommuting. Statista then asked respondents how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others, and to nominate organizations in industries outside their own. The number of businesses ranked in each state is capped at 101 and was dependent on two factors –the number of qualifying employers and the size of the state’s workforce –and those with operations in more than one state had the opportunity to be listed multiple times. The 2023 Forbes ranking of America’s Top Wealth Management Teams Best-In-State, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. This ranking is based upon the period from 4/1/2021 to 3/31/2022 and was released on 01/12/2023. Advisor teams that are considered must have one advisor with a minimum of seven years of experience, have been in existence as a team for at least one year, have at least 5 team members, and have been nominated by their firm. The algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 8,000 team nominations, 2,860 advisor teams received the award based on thresholds. This ranking is not indicative of an advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience.
